All black is the chicest outfit you could wear to a holiday party. Coco Chanel, one of my style icons, said it best: “Women think, Black is elegant and chic; black is slimming, black looks good on all skin tones, black looks good with all hair colours, black looks as good on men as it does on women.
We all want to look stylish and glamorous for the holidays. However, buying an outfit for each party can harm your wallet.
Last week I was invited to a Christmas party. I wanted to wear something different instead of my usual, and of course, I wanted to wear my new boots from Bill Blass. Wearing jeans, it didn’t feel appropriate so decided I wanted to wear a dress or a skirt. I am a firm believer that we always can create many looks from our closet.
The first thing to do is decide what colour I want to wear. From there I pick my favourite pieces of that colour from all the season. I always shopped on my closet before I decide to go out shopping. Let’ face it, we don’t want to wear the same thing from last year, but we could recreate a new look by adding a new piece. It doesn’t have to be big; it can be a piece of jewellery, a pair of new shoes, or a new belt.
I shopped the look on my closet and my husband closet.
I wore a two-set piece from Third Form I wore last summer, here. To finish off the look I paired the set with my husband’s tux jacket. The blazer elevates the outfit to an edgy, elegant look.
If you have an old item that you haven’t worn in a long time, but you want to make it as a new look: 1. Play with accessories and layers. 2. Keep it one colour if you can, monochrome looks are easy to pull off. 3. Don’t be afraid to try new things, fashion is fun and you should have fun with it.
Wish you all a great holidays season. Aurela x
