Birthday Celebration Trip to Seattle

Last week I turned 43! I can’t believe the time goes by so fast without realizing you are getting older. To celebrate my birthday my fiancee and I decided to drive to Seatle for a few days and explore the city. It is the only city we can escape to within two hours of drive. Honestly, I love Vancouver, but I feel that I am far away from any part of the world, even if I have to see my son I have to fly 5 hours within Canada. One reason why I miss Europe so much, within a few hours you can be in a different country.

However, I am blessed to live in Vancouver. Is my home and for that, I am thankful to live in a beautiful city. Back to my celebration before I start rumbling away in other direction. We have been to Seatle many times on day trips since is close to Vancouver and also we had spent a few weekends when I started to date my fiance.

Since we liked the Kimpton Hotel from our last gateway to Portland, we decided to stay in the Palladian Kimpton hotel which is located right downtown and close to the market. The hotel located within walking distance of many of Seattle’s main attractions and the eclectic decor made it an excellent choice for us to spend the weekend. Room was on a high floor with beautiful views of the city and a right size comfortable bed. The bathroom was a perfect size, and my favourite part was the bathtub. I need one in my condo:) The team was kind enough to welcome me with a bottle of wine and fresh berries which was a beautiful touch. We found the hotel staff and especially the front desk staff to be friendly and helpful.

I loved that we could easily walk to the Pike Place Market and so many other shops and restaurants in downtown Seattle. Sadly, the weather worked against us, rainy and windy.  We went down to the market to get some snacks, and I was so cold and decided to come back and enjoy a hot bath and have a relaxing time at the hotel.

The next morning we had room service in bed as this is one of my favourite things to do when I am in a staycation mood. With the busy lives, we don’t get this service often enough to be spoiled in bed with delicious breakfast. Since it wasn’t raining, I wanted to explore the city before we headed back to Vancouver. I packed light thinking it would be warm but it was the opposite. It was cold for us that we both need it a jacket to walk around. The long sleeve polka dot dress was a life saver as it kept me warm and stylish for a quick photoshoot.

Afterall we ended up having a fantastic mini trip and had a relaxing time at the Palladian hotel, exactly what we need it! Eight weeks from now, we’ll be celebrating my wedding in Lake Como, Italy with my family and friends!!
