Wide leg trousers have been around for decades. This masculine look, that was so popular back in the 1930’s, is one of my favourite trends to wear. I’ve always loved how classy Katherine Hepburn looked in her wide leg trousers. These pants can be a bit tricky to wear if you have a petite & curvy frame like myself. I personally love to wear these pants when I feel bloated but still want to look chic and comfortable. Victoria B wears this trend so perfectly that she makes me want to copy all her looks.
Below are a few tricks that I’ve learned along the way when trying to wear wide leg trousers. I have a vast selection of these pants in my wardrobe, including a pair of striped summer wide leg culottes from Zara, a pair of nude palazzos that I wear in the fall and winter seasons and a pair of wide wool trousers that I wear throughout the winter with high neck sweaters.
Don’t be shy to show off your waistline by pairing these pants with an elegant silhouette top. In this look I chose to accent my waist with a waist belt blouse from Storets and wide leg trousers form Third Form for an effortless chic and minimal look. I don’t recommend wearing wide leg pants with an oversized top, I think it is very important to properly balance your bodies proportions when trying to look thinner. The belt seen here creates an illusion of a smaller waist.
For a chic date night look, try pairing wide-leg trousers with a silk camisole, blazer and strapped heel. It’s an easy way to stand out but still maintain a classic style. Because I prefer neutrals, I would chose to wear either a neutral, black or off white suit.
You can also chose to wear these pants casually with a white button shirt and flat sandals for that easy breezy carefree look. Opt for a linen shirt in thin palazzo pants, you will always feel elegant in them. The wide leg is cool for hot summer days.
In my opinion one of the best ways to wear wide trousers is with a white crisp shirt. YSL is one of my favourite designer for this look.
