Kimpton Hotel Vintage – A weekend in Portland

I haven’t been to Portland in a few years. The last time I was on my way to California and only stopped for a quick lunch. Since then I have always wanted to come back and explore the city. A few weeks ago my love and I decided to drive to Portland for the weekend. While searching for a hotel to stay I came across Vintage Kimpton Hotel and instantly fell in love with the décor, and the location was prime for our short stay.

After a five-hour drive from Vancouver, we were thrilled to arrive at the Kimpton Vintage hotel. Upon our arrival, the concierge was friendly and helped us with our luggage and parking. The employees we encountered had a smile on their face and seemed genuinely happy to give us directions or provide anything we needed. Honestly, I’m grumpy if the service isn’t good. Not sure about you guys but it totally ruins my mood and my stay. This was my very first time at a Kimpton Property so to experience the friendly vibe right away was totally awesome.

As I said, this was my first time in Kimpton hotels and was excited to experience in person the funky décor that I saw online prior to booking. It’s a mix of vintage, luxury, and off-the-wall retro. Our suite was funky, stylish and bigger than I imagined. A wine bottle was waiting for us at the dining table and few little treats which I thought it was a wonderful welcoming touch especially after driving for five hours. A glass of wine or two is always necessary to cheer you up:)

When you book a hotel it is all about location, location, the Kimpton Vintage certainly has that!! Right in the heart of downtown, which makes virtually every tourist destination walking distance and lots of good places to eat are close by. We didn’t eat at the hotel since they were under renovation so the location was certainly a bonus. Exploring the city on foot is better than driving in my opinion. Who wants to deal with traffic and parking? I certainly don’t !! We found so many places to eat within a block from the hotel and enjoyed walking around the city.

After many hours of exploring, we returned in time for the 5 PM evening wine reception put on by the Vintage Hotel. In addition to house wines, Hotel Vintage had a guest winery pouring samples from their own stock and I quickly felt the buzz with all the sample tasting and the live music made it a fun happy hour. I loved the music and the atmosphere.

Wine Tasting

My favourite part of our stay was my BED! I slept like a baby! I kid you not, I don’t sleep much when I am away because I am used to my bed but this hotel has the comfiest bed ever and you can barely hear any city noise.

Looking down the atrium from just outside our suite room.

We couldn’t have picked a better hotel for our trip to Portland. The hotel’s staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming!

Have you been to Portland or Hotel Vintage Property before? Where are you headed next? I am planning a weekend trip to Seattle soon, perhaps a Kimpton stay?  Truly we had a wonderful time even though it was a short stay! Thanks to the Kimpton Vintage staff and looking forward to coming back very soon!

Spread the love
