Exploring The Town of Port Hope With My Family!

Last week I traveled to Toronto with my love to re-unite with my family. My parents arrived in Toronto from Albania a week ago to spent time with my sister and my son. Living in Canada makes it so hard to see my parents as often as I would like too due to the distance, and flying to Toronto to see them was exhausting. I miss my family, especially my sis and my son. Both of them left me to chase their dreams. My sister moved to Toronto, Port Hope to be exact for work two years ago and I seriously miss having her around. We used to live together and did everything together. She was my bestie!

Although, ย I do have a few close girlfriends in Vancouver, not having my sister around makes me feel sad. But that’s life, we grow older, we leave our parents, family to chase our dreams. Speaking of that, my son also left home 4 years ago to attend university back east and he usually comes home for the summer. This year he was hired to work at the University lab for the summer and I couldn’t be more proud of him!

It was a great short week to be with my family but I was quite pissed at the weather. It was a bit chilly and we had one day of rain. One day it was really warm and sunny hence I decided to wear my summer uniform, ย white on white ๐Ÿ™‚ I know you’ll probably be sick of seeing me wear white but I can’t help it. It’s fresh and effortless! I choose my suit pants that I wore on my previous post, and knitwear from Backdrop Fashion, a brand based in Vancouver. I love the asymmetrical split hem and the slouchy fit. It’s very chic and can be worn with jeans, trousers, skirts or over a dress for a light layer in the summer chilli nights. My cute little bow shoes that I purchased from Zara a month ago are my favourite mules. I had a friend who told me they aren’t as comfy for her but I walked around with my family all day, and I felt very comfortable. Simple, chic and comfortable that’s one of the looks I wore on my trip.

What do you wear when you travel and explore new cities ? Aurela xoxo

  1. I love an all white look too especially in the warmer months. I agree – it is so clean and fresh. These shoes are the cutest and so perfect to make this all white look pop. The flow and comfiness of this look is just so effortless. I am glad you were able to spend some time with your family. I have two sisters too and I miss them all the time as we are super close. I can’t even imagine how it is to have your son far from you too. Luckily we have these moments we can take to spend as much time with them as possible. xoxo, Christine

  4. Oh this is so ironic! Me and my boyfriend were just talking about how we should make the trip to Port Hope just a few hours ago this morning! We’re also from Toronto haha.
It’s so lovely you re able to spend time with your family, especially if you don’t see them often (when they go off to university its a tough time isn’t it?). It’s so nice to that everyone can come together. You look great in that outfit! Very minimal and clean!

  5. After reading your post, I am so curious how old are you, if your son is quite adult. I know your feeling about having your family so far, at least you are at same country with your sister, when my sister and my family leave very far in other country. I saw them last time 4 years ago. I love how you styled all white.

    • My family is mostly in Europe, only my son and my baby sister live in Canada. My parents are in Albania, and have a brother and 2 sisters in Germany. I am old i guess but I am happy I look younger. My son is turning 22 and I had him when I was in my early 20’s:)

I know what you mean about being sad about not having your family close by my family live in Poland which is 21 hours by plane so I don’t see them very often.
That’s amazing about your son I don’t have any children but I’m sure one day I will and their accomplishments would enrich my life too

  9. It is hard to live away from family. We live a good bit from everyone as well! Glad you got to spend some time with them though! I cannot believe you have a son at University BTW! I love your outfit! I’m such a fan of the pant as I was loving it in last weeks post too! The knit from Backdrop Fashion is incredible! Comfortable and chic is a perfect combination! I was convinced that your shoes were designer until I saw that they are from Zara! How amazing! Love this entire look! When I travel, I usually wear a light flowing dress that’s at least midi length!

  10. Ahh dear, I hope you spent a wonderful time with your parents. I know exactly that feeling because my own parents also live far away from me.
But dare I say, that this lovely Backdrop Fashion Sweater is such a lovely and statement piece. I love this all-white outfit with tiny black details. The shoes are just over the moon, and Oh my! They are from ZARA! I’ve seen so many gorgeous shoes recently and all of them were from ZARA. Well, I should definitely pay a visit to the store.

  11. Being away from your family is hard, but as we grow up and get older we see our family being scattered here and there for work and studies, but when there is a family gathering it gets even better when you finally meet up again! As for you wearing white I never get tired of that so keep giving us these lovely outfits! When I travel I try to be trendy, yet comfy, which at times can be a challenge, but I usually manage it quite well ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I love the bow shoes, they really add a nice touch of color to the look. I’m happy you had the opportunity to spend time with your family especially since theres quite a distance between you and some of your family members. Xo, Jessica

  13. Girl I know exactly how you feel. I left my family in LA a year ago. My sister was my best friend and now I never really see her. I miss some of my friends and feeling a sense of comfort just knowing where I am. Loving his all white ensemble. It’s so clean and perfect for a day out. Hope you enjoyed yourself

  14. So glad that you got to spend some quality family time. My parents lives in China half the year so whenever they are in the states, we spend as much time together as possible. You look so chic in summer white and I love the subtle blue details on the bag and those super cute bow slippers.
